Hey friends! I have been thinking about this for a while but can’t figure it out. Our tribe currently has three bunnies, and one of them, an 1.5 year old boy, Fengfeng, would always eat a larger potion of the pellets but less hay than others. So this naughty boy is a little bit overweight. He’s the black one in the picture.
We would dispense pellets around 10pm, 3/4 cup for all three of them, and we have two feeding spots. We also have unlimited hay and 3 cups of veggies everyday. Our children are all bonded for quite a while so I guess our fat boi is just good at eating pellets. He probably can finish a lot quickly. We haven’t noticed any fight or bully incident.
We don’t know how to have Fengfeng eat less pellets and leave more to others. He’s a sweet boy but a little bit slow, so talking probably won’t work. We are thinking about setting up fences at night to separate them but it sounds like a bad idea.
Any ideas? Anyone has the same problem? Thanks.

There are tips here: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Weight_management#Managing_diets_for_bonded_rabbits
Separating them temporarily is fine, and it’s mostly time intensive rather than stress out their bond.
If none of them are underweight, then maybe consider just feeding less pellets overall so the piggy one won’t eat too much. Rabbits don’t need to eat that many pellets to get enough vitamins and minerals.
