Hi all, for those who can’t read captions a basic summary is I just cut a big knot out of Rori’s hair right behind his ears about two days ago. This morning I noticed this bald spot behind his ears with some flakes of skin. Tried looking for movement but know mites can be extremely small. Am I overreacting by scheduling a vet visit? The closest rabbit vet is a couple hours away.
Added info: he’s a lionhead, it’s been really warm here lately too and he finished shedding about a week ago.

Hmm yeah behind the ears is a weird spot for there to be over-grooming. If it looks like there’s more hair loss than there was when you trimmed back the knot, there might be something up.
That said, it might be a little too early to go into the vet for this, given that the vet is hours away and the image looks really benign. Go ahead and set up a vet appointment for like 1-2 weeks from now. Check daily and take pictures to see how it changes. If her condition improves, you can always cancel the appointment. If it gets worse, then you already have an appointment on the books to get it taken care of.
