Is it common for rabbits coats to change as they mature?
This is Pepper last year (5 m/o in the pic) vs. today. It’s hard to tell due to the lighting, but his coat has gotten darker and less white. Has this happened to any of your guys’ buns?
From what I read, rabbits are no different from humans in this regard. As we mature, our bodies change. For example, if a person has gray hair at around 70, rabbits can become grayer as they age too. Rabbits Online has more info, if interested:
Not a biologist, but maybe he has some sort of genes that work similar with those of Siamese cats wherein he’s albino, but some body parts are darker due to variations in body temperature. Again, I am most likely an idiot for suggesting this but maybe the darkening of his coat is from those parts becoming cooler as he ages.

Yess mine went a slightly darker beige and thicker white eyeliner

Yes. Every time people and animals shed, the hair which grows back isn’t the same hair.

My boy was orange and now hes like a brownish orange. They DEFINITELY change. My girl was a lighter shade of cream and now its more beige.

My bunnies both got new and different coats as they went through a molt

Yep, ours has a similar coat colour to yours. She was definitely whiter when she was younger and as she moulted over time slowly became more of a greyer white. So even though she’s white with the greyish points, she’s no longer white-white iykwim.
On an unrelated note, your buns hair looks like my buns hair :,) is he part lionhead?

One of our bunnies changes slightly every new coat. Mostly has been getting more colour but his long lionhead hairs change length sometimes too.
