Treatments for arthritis in young rabbit

My poor girl SweetPea has been hopping funny, I took her in for an x-ray and found out she has arthritis in her knees, and muscle atrophy in her back right leg, she’s only 2 and a half years old:(
Her breed is quite susceptible to arthritis, even at very young ages, I’ve talked with my vet and we are going to try cold laser therapy and he’s doing some research into injectable treatments that are safe for rabbits long term, he doesn’t want to put her on meds because of her age, she’s too young and could suffer organ damage from anti inflammatorys, does anyone else have experience with young rabbits with arthritis? What worked for you? Will it effect her lifespan? Thank you

I would work with the vet and do a joint supplement from Oxbow or Sherwood. They would be like giving the baby a treat. You can double check with the vet too.

So, this is npt from my experience, but from people on the Facebook group Disabled Rabbits… Some people took their pets for acupuncture? But my advice is (if you’re on facebook) see if you can get into that group as they have some very knowledgeable people there. There is probably a similar sub on here somewhere

Our boy got laser treatment at the vet. That helped a bit. 🙂

Also start glucosamine and chindrotin (I don’t know if I spelled those correctly) asap. You can get capsules for dogs/cats and open them up. I put a sprinkle on a treat everyday per my vet to help slow it down.
