Nail Trimming

This was a Flemish Giant I rescued that had been kept in a dog crate all of her life. I trimmed her nails by myself and had no problem. Please learn how to take care of your rabbits!!

Poor creature. And poor victim of his claws.

What kind of nail trimmer is that in the second pic? I haven’t seen one like it before

I have a question re: the quick. Will it really recede in time with frequent nail trimming?

I have been trimming our bunnos nails pretty regularly: at least twice a month sometimes even more. But I can only trim a little bit at the time as the quick still long. I even have been doing ‘ nail nibbling’, but the quick does seem to budge … Any advice/insight?

To OP: Thank you for taking care of the bun there and raising awareness for this.

I am terrible with nail trimming. I just learned my vet office will do it for $20 a visit so that is money well spent. I do trim them but my bun goes crazy after 2-3 get done so I tend to forget which ones I did.

  9. This is so sad. Thank you for taking care of him!

Last picture.. I just wanna say, when you have a difficult bun with brown nails you are just glad you are able to cut them without making him bleed, not so much thinking what direction you are cutting.

  10. Ok but seriously what I’d that magical lighted nail clipper? It’s so hard to see sometimes!

Thanks for the 3rd pic, we’d been wondering about that.

This is similar to how my rescue bunny, Bambi, was treated! Her claws were so long they were curling over into her feet so she could barely move. She was a whole new rabbit once we cut them for her. She hates being held but she let us hold her while we cut them. And now she gets monthly nail trimming and pampering 💚

Had a Flemish giant mix. So glad she loved digging the yard to my dads dismay. Her claws never grew too long. I don’t remember having to cut em that often if ever.

What the actual fuck is that first pic!?! Poor bun.

Any chance of a pic of the beast after their pamper session?

  16. Omg I know she’s so thankful for you!!!

I wish people could experience what they do to these animals.

Why go out of your way to get pets and then treat them like rubbish

The bun must be so relieved and knew you were helping. Blessing you for saving her.

  18. The relief she must feel. Thank you for taking care of her 💝

  19. And I feel bad that I still haven’t managed to trim the claws on my buns left hind leg yet…

He’s almost 4months, and I’ve had him for almost 2. He’s not fond of being held or restricted, and I’m still a newbie rabbit butler who’s unsure how much a rabbit can handle.

Poor bun must have been in so much pain:( I’m glad she’s being cared for now!!❤️
