They can’t be fully bonded because Molly has severe behaviour problems. The doctors can do nothing for her, but they did advise us to keep them both. Molly is much calmer around Owen, but for safety’s sake there has to be a fence between them. Molly panics when somebody tries to assert dominance, which makes a stable bond impossible.
Last weekend we were doing some big cleaning, so we put Molly in the bathroom and Owen in the bedroom. When I had to get something from the bedroom Molly accidentally slipped into the bedroom and hid behind her big brother.
It usually leads to fights when they’re unseparated, so I put Molly back in the bathroom. She was so anxious and started to whine, toot and thump, so I quickly opened the door again.
We supervised them all the time, but apparently they were too scared from the noise to pick a fight. Molly freaks out when Owen tries to assert dominance, so we immediately stopped those attempts. They sat like this for several hours, and it really helped Molly with her fear.
We’re going to try to put them together more often, well supervised of course.

It sounds like you are doing an amazing job of meeting her where she is so she can live a happy healthy life where she feels safe and loved.
