So today the vet confirmed that our new love Millie is deaf. The test was pretty easy. He just dropped a metal bowl in the vets office and she didn’t respond period, but the wife did so we know her hearing is fine. We had our suspicions because Millie wouldn’t respond to us calling her name or to us clapping behind her.
He did confirmed that she’s completely healthy and deaf. He also mentioned that about six percent of white rabbits are deaf which I found interesting.
This in no way changes how we feel about her. She’s already part of the family and we love her.
He did recommend possibly looking into using LED lights to get her attention if you’re trying to train her. Such as using a small keychain light to get her attention or to signal that you wanted to stop doing something. So we’re going to bring some tech in to let her know when we’ve entered the room, etc.
She’s only 3.5 months old so we’re still training on the litter box, etc. But she’s just to sweet and kind.
She’s our second bunny. Milo our first is keen to meet her but we’re taking that slowly. They sniff each other throught the pens and seem to like one another. But again, taking it slow. He’s what convinced us we wanted another bunny.
Just wanted to share.
