TLDR; What have you paid for bunny surgery?
This is my Lo. She’s in need of surgery due to complications of being a lop bunny: both her ears have clogged up. Her right ear is the furthest gone, the amount of goo that has built up in there has caused her eardrum to burst. The vet will need to perform a surgery of the middle ear to empty out the secretions. When she’s healed enough, she’ll need surgery for her left ear, where the vet “only” will have to open up the ear canal. She’s on painkillers while awaiting surgery (which she is taking like a champ!)
This is going to be costly. Before anyone comes at me, I can afford it – but we’re talking a lot of money, about a years rent for me. If we can cut the costs, that would obviously be great.
Now, I’ve heard from various sources that vet care in Germany are often more affordable than other countries. Since I’m in the south of Sweden I’m considering a trip south for Lo’s surgery. I’m also under the impression that bunny expertise is a lot more widespread amongst German vets than here.
Could you give me some insight into these matters, the costs of surgery as well as how easy/hard it is to come by a vet with lots of bunny experience?
