Hello! This is my very first post here and I just need some advice and to rant a little bit 😂
So I have two bunnies, 1 boy churro (1 year old)
And 1 girl mochi (4 months old) for the time being they are separated because neither of them is neutered/spayed.
The original plan was to get Churro neutered in March but during his visit, the doctors discovered coccidia in his poop, so they told me to have him recover from that then we can get started on the surgery, and now mochi has coccidia too. I just want to say I love my bunnies and I want them to get better, but it’s starting to feel like a lot. Firstly since they are separated mochi is in my sisters room and churro is in my room so that’s double of what I have to clean and disinfect daily, and they both like to get into mischief. Churro especially, since he’s not neutered he pees everywhere, and he likes to jump.
I have plants in my room and I have them where I thought he couldn’t reach, but yesterday I came back from work and saw one of my plants almost completely bald. I immediately called APCC thankfully the plant isn’t too poisonous to him (he’s fine) but I was really mad at him, I had clean again and before going to bed he did the same thing, he just didn’t eat my plant this time.
Pet bills is another thing, I’ve paid for both bunnies almost $1,000, plus I’ve bought some things to help them recover from the coccidia. I just want to know how much longer are they going to have this parasite, I’m getting tired and financially I can’t keep up. I did just get insurance for both of them so hopefully it can help a little bit but for the time being I have to work extra hours just to make ends meet.
My family keeps telling me to just let them pass away and stop spending so much on them but I just can’t, any of you have advice or know anything about this coccidia? I feel like I’m over doing it but at the same time I feel like I’m not doing enough.

My girl bun came with coccidiosis. It took a while to fully eradicate it and she had multiple rounds of treatment and testing of her poop.
It is really important to completely disinfect everything as they can keep infecting themselves through their own waste. Boil out anything you can, use the oven to sterilise wooden stuff and you might have to bite the bullet and toss things if you can’t disinfect it properly.
Use hay rack and hang it above your bunny so they don’t contaminate the hay they ingest with coccidiosis.
It is definitely frustrating but coccidiosis is not a death sentence for a bunny! You got this ! Feel
Free to dm/ ask me here if you have any questions about coccidiosis treatment I went through with my bun.
Also, don’t get mad at bunnies for eating plants. It is what they do. And domesticated rabbits lack the instincts to know what is food and what is poison
Hang in there.
I can’t speak to the parasite problem, but rabbits just want to experience the whole world… by eating it.
