Im going to be completely honest with this post.
– I got my bunny, Harlow, when I was around 8-9 years old, Currently I’m 17. Since my parents got me and my sister bunnies when we were so young we ended up thinking they were boring. We had our first bunny (Willow) for around a year then we got Harlow, Sadly we had to put willow down, now it’s just Harlow.
– Harlow has been kept in our basement for her whole life since my parents didn’t want the house to smell..she takes up a whole corner of our basement, we make sure she always has hay, toys and blankets. Personally I really want to move her upstairs, We have a room-ish type area in my house that only ever gets used by my dogs, I want to put her down there and just block off the area were my dogs eat. The issue with that is My parents are stubborn about the smell, and my father is allergic to the hay, not severely but enough to make his throat itchy. I wasn’t sure if an air purifier would help with that issue? As for the smell I’d clean out her litter box every morning and night, and clean up after her.
– Harlow has also become very ‘angry’ towards people, she grunts and thumps her feet..it makes me feel awful, and I know it would be easier to bond with her again if she was not in the basement, since I never go down there because of school and work. I’d like to add that i have talked to my parents about re-homing her but it’s never happened, since I don’t think many people want bunnies where I live. I haven’t really talked to my parents about moving her since my dad is allergic to the hay.
I’m not really sure what to do, I just need help trying to figure out the best way to give Harlow the best life possible, she’s really healthy, and eats well but my only concern is the fact she’s alone 24/7. I already feel absolutely horrible and I’m trying to fix this issue. Any hate or support is appreciated since it’ll help me view this situation from all angles.
