Econiculi bun and neutering

My girlfriend and I have a beautiful bun named Shaggy. He turns a year old next month but he’s hit that time where it’s non stop humping and territorial marking. He is now showing signs of Boredom and over grooming himself causing skin damage and pulling out hair. We have tried our best to buy him lots of toys and spend time with him to prevent this. We originally went to a vet here in Nashville, TN and we were in the works of getting him neutered. For some reason they tested for econiculi which apparently is a common disease in buns. They are refusing to neuter him because he tested positive for it. So we went to a different clinic with a “gold star rating”. Which they definitely don’t deserve as my girlfriend went there with our bun and was treated horribly. They made her feel like a horrible pet owner. They also stated that they have a bunny waiting room to be separated from predator animals, which was a complete lie, as when she went she was sitting with dogs and cats all around her. The rates they wanted were at a low $700 or with some of the extras $900 for him to get neutered. Is this a normal rate or outrageously high? Would it be okay to get a male neutered bun to bond with and be friends to reduce boredom without having him neutered as well? We just don’t know what to do, I would appreciate any advice y’all could give and thank you to the people who read this and to those who read and comment😀
