MY GOODNESS I never want to go through that again.
So my bunny is a lionhead mix and she’s 4. She’s a picky eater and eats a lot of cucumber (dw she eats her hay and pellets, she’s just picky with veggies)
As she’s aging she’s been having trouble grooming herself and there’s only so much I can do to help. Around her mouth area it gets pretty soaked with the cucumber and hence frequent matting/tangling. I just simply cut the fur and keep the hair short around her mouth.
Anyway last week while doing my routine cuts her fur just fell off and in the ‘bald’ spot I noticed some ‘dandruff’ and yes it was rabbit mite. She’s been to her vet which thankfully was able to treat her. The infected area is cleared of the dandruff and her fur is even regrowing but the problem is her ears. Her ear lining has been shedding like crazy and I know I’m not supposed to clean it and was given a cream(see 2 picks) that i need to apply 2-3 times a day. Idk her ears look really irritated and inflamed, they’re really hot, red and sensitive(I couldn’t take a picture she’s squirming too much and I don’t want to hurt her)
Also the vet didn’t specify when the shedding will stop and it’s making me anxious. He also didn’t tell me if I should clean her pen more often or it I should comeback for a checkup. He also gave me cat supplements for her(tbh our there’s barely any specialised bunny vets or medicine where I’m from so he is improvising)
Any advice and suggestions is appreciated.
