Our boy bunny seems extremely mad about the girl we brought into his house (both spayed/neutered). When letting them sniff each other through an xpen in the bathroom (the only potentially neutral area of the house) he has thumped, growled(?), and today started spraying pee. He has impeccable litterbox habits otherwise. I’m not sure what to do about it because any time I look this up the result is “neuter your rabbit.” Is this level of territorial behavior expected if both rabbits are fixed? Has anyone experienced and gotten past this stage in bonding? The spraying adds a lot of stress and logistical difficulty for the humans involved.
For her part, the girl is sniffing him, laying down, and even groomed him once through the pen.
