It was hard for me to find all the information in one place, so I wanted to share the things that I learned through the process of trying to rescue a baby cottontail rabbit in case you ever encounter a similar situation you can hopefully learn from my mistakes.
I know they look cute and wanting to touch them or keep them is super tempting, but please leave the babies alone unless they ABSOLUTELY need rescue. The mother will never just abandon her babies so don’t assume that they need your help just because they are alone.
Trying to rescue a baby cottontail and keeping them alive is NOT easy. It might look cute and easy on this video but it requires a lot of attention, time and money.
If there’s a wild animal rehabilitation center in your area, please reach out to them first before taking on this hard task.
