My Rabbit Has Started Shaking Her Ears Like This

Is this an issue? We have had her for a year this is fairly new behavior. Her ears look clean (i am no expert). She also is letting one ear droop alot. Hopefully its not serious.

Definitely have an ear inspection. Mine does this but it is to get things out of her ears and she has flung ear wax at me and another time a piece of pellet. Somehow when I sprinkle pellet on the floor, one got in her ear so now I try to sprinkle it better. 😱

I had her ears checked and there was just some gunk in it. She is due for a vet visit so she will get her ears checked again.

Sounds like some sort of ear issue that should be checked out by a vet.

Definitely a good idea for a vet check, theyll give you ear drops if needed. But my buns do this more often when shedding and have been cleared by vet — i think the hair just goes everywhere 😅

Ear infection. I thought Nighto-kun’s ears looked fine but when I took him to the doc, he found he had an infection. He asked if he had been shaking his head recently and I said sometimes. At that point I worked really long hours so I couldn’t be sure how often it was but he shook it like that.

Is she also scratching her ears? If yes then it’s definitely ear infection, and you’ll need vet to see her and prescribe her antibiotic and probiotics (they are extremely important with antibiotics). My bun did the same thing but week of antibiotics, probiotics and ear drops cleared it completely and we haven’t got that issue since.

I would take him to vet asap it’s probably parasites ear mites or something internal

This bun is definitely got something uncomfortable going on with their ears, mites, or wax, lodged item, infection; I’d take them to a vet. Let us know what the doc says. I hope your bun feels better soon.

Aw one of my past bun babes would do this when he had an ear infection. Kind of like humans you can see quite a bit from the outside (I take my cellphone light and hold their ear so I can see). But there’s still a section that’s internal and you need the right device to see inside.

It’s tough during seasonal changes for bunnies too.

Thankfully if it is an ear infection that you’ve caught early, the medicine isn’t too pricey the worst is just having to give it to them.

Ear infections can develop into some serious issues, so it’s always better to be on top of it
