Help with attack bunny

My foster fail bunny has one flaw and that is that he hates my cockatiel with all the murderous rage of his little bunny heart. They did great for a week and then it’s like a switch flipped. Belmont growls and barks at my cockatiel, charges him, and once ripped a feather out. He goes so feral that when I shoved them apart, he bit me. He only had a chance to attack my cockatiel once (that’s when he ripped a feather out) and it came out of NOWHERE. My derpy cockatiel isn’t even fully aware that the rabbit exists and just hangs out singing songs, not bothering him at all. He was walking across the floor and minding his own business the time Belmont jumped out of his pen and attacked him.

My cockatiel has always been free-range and he was here first so I hate to disrupt his life. Is the only solution to keep them separate? Like give Belmont free-range time and then put him away and give the bird free-range time? This is what I’m already doing but just wanted to see if anyone has experienced something similar or knows what to do.

Being intersex, the bunny is unable to get nuetered so hormones may be playing a role.

He’s such a sweet bunny and does fantastic with small dogs so I don’t understand the bird hate at all.
