My dear Charlie is 8 years old and neutered. He and I have lived in our same apartment for 3 years. He has a litter box and free range. About a month ago, if I was doing anything on my kitchen counter tops, he would do circles assuming I have treats, he would pee when he didn’t get anything.
This morning, he hopped on my bed and I was too tired to give pets, he peed.
Tonight on the couch, I repositioned him and he peed.
All of this peeing outside the litter box is new. What can I do? Does he realize that I’m upset that he peed? I was hoping it would deter that behavior.
