Creating neutral space with free roam and new rabbit…

I’m trying to bond my M free roam rabbit to my newly rescued F rabbit. My M rabbit had a whole room to himself and also would run around the living/dining space. the kitchen is also technically connected since there are no walls inbetween the different “rooms” but wouldn’t venture over there since it is all wood floor.

Rabbits are currently house in separate x pens in his home area after a deep clean with vinegar. i switch them every day after a bonding session.

Bonding sessions have been done in the basement bathroom since it was neutral. I’m looking to start lengthening sessions and pen size and can’t reasonably stay in the basement with them for 4+ hours at a time with supervision. The pen is currently open as large as it can be in the bathroom.

What should I do to create a new, larger neutral space for longer sessions where I can supervise but also be productive? Kitchen area after deep cleaning? Do I have to deep clean the whole upper living area since it is all “connected” without walls? Or just the kitchen and surround the pens with sheets? Would I have to stop letting them free roam in the upstairs living area to keep it “neutral”?
