Do you take your buns to the park?

Or anywhere outside home really…

No, but I wish I could!

I suspect, however, that Baby Alan would just fight everyone, including dogs (and god), Ralph would get eaten because he believes everything is “friend shaped” 🤦🏼‍♀️

I’d be way too worried about a dog running up and thinking she’s a chew toy. Sadly a lot of people do not keep their dogs on a leash in my area, and most of these dogs are not well trained.

Worst bit is Flopsy LOVES dogs. She constantly follows my brothers dog around when they visit. So she probably wouldn’t even think to run if a dog came up to her.

  3. No. Ozzy goes out into our enclosed yard sith a leash/harness and in an x-pen.

Anywhere public is just asking for a shitty dog owner with a badly behaved dog not on a leash and Ozzy gets hurt, or worse. Not taking that risk.

  4. Toothless_Dinosaur

I wouldn’t mind but I think they won’t like. They live sometimes in a place with a terrace (their second home) with plant pots and so and they almost never go outside.

  5. PepperThePotato

I don’t. I used to take my boys into my yard but now there are too many rats and other animals in the neighborhood. I haven’t taken them outside since there was a hemorrhaging illness spreading through the local wild rabbit colony.

  6. Sentientmanatee

Nooo, with the risk of RHDV, dogs and other animals? I would never.

  7. Citrinehannah

I wish I could. Our wild rabbit population that lives in the park has uncontrollable myxomatosis and even tho my bun is vaccinated it doesn’t give 100% protection so I don’t want to risk it. She gets to run in a meadow in another part of town where there are no rabbits tho and she loves it so much <33

I want to but we have such a hard time putting on the harness. Do u have any suggestions or tips on a good harness and how to put it on easy. I’m thinking about getting a Velcro one instead of. Lips so it’ll be easier to put on

  9. Andrea_frm_DubT

Nope. My rabbits stay at home. They only leave the property to go to the vet.

  10. DivaSweetie2

I WANT to take ours outside, here at home. But I don’t know what harness to get. I’m afraid if I get the wrong one- bye bye bunny. 🥺🥺

  11. duck1ingg

Yes! One of my buns loves it. She gets to run. With a harness of course.

  12. May be if I have a Flemish giant. I have a dwarf variety smaller than most cats and there are fox, coyotes, and hawks in my area.

  13. LivingEnd44

No. Just too much that can be go wrong.

  14. patternsofbirds

I let mine out in our yard, never alone. She likes wagon rides

  15. MAZZ0Murder

One of the few rules at the local park is keep your dog on a leash… and most people ignore it so I’d be too nervous to take them.

  16. Gonzbull

No unfortunately not. People here in New Zealand don’t pick up their dogs shit. Also heaps of cats all over the place. Our bun has free rein of our enclosed back yard with lots of space to rabbit. He just comes in the house for a few laps and to attack the curtains and he’s out again. He lives outside in a huge double storey rabbit house. He gets put in at night and let out at dawn.

  17. PrincipleLazy3383

Yes, I do. I’m not sure if enjoys it so much but he has a little tunnel bag and we put a Matt down. He tends to not go far with the lead on, we have tried to take him out without a lead but he always ends up hiding in a bush and he’s hard to get back.

  18. FlappyPosterior

No, cause that rat bastard would find a way to escape

  19. triggerscold

NEVER. cant even tempt my bun to consider outside.. rhdv2 is real and even if vaccinated it might not work… then we have hawks and vultures etcetc. i see them allll the time all over the place. and coupled with the fact texas is almost always over 85° make for an unfun outdoor trip for my bun. especially when we are bombarded with barking dogs etcetc. so i ask myself who is this for, me or the bun?

  20. Infamous-Brownie6

My bun hates his leash thing. He always managers to get out of it. He’s happy running in the house lol.

  21. Expensive-Shirt-6877

We take ours in the backyard sometimes but the squirrels freak out for some reason

  22. PeachyPiratex3

Ohh and what’s ur bunny’s name? Mine is “Beani” 💕 she’s a mini Rex

  23. nilfalasiel

Far too many dogs off lead about, even if he actually liked wearing a harness.

He just frolics around the garden when the weather is nice.

  24. Suspicious_Owl6785

Yes we do! Put them in a small pen. They roam in eat and the grass. It’s not treated so he’s good to go.

  25. South-Status-5529

I never did. Didn’t want to take the risks of my sweet little Natalia getting attacked

  26. Apprehensive-Pass665

Only once and never again, my rabbit stayed at the side and huddled.

  27. SplashnBlue

My Chihuahua was recently killed by a loose dog. It was over in a matter of 30 seconds. I don’t think I’d ever risk it with Drake (my 12-14lb lop) since he triggers prey drive even more than a dog does usually.

  28. StaticRogue

Damn I wish my rabbits bunnies were chill enough to let me do that

  29. WisdomDuck4

Basically no… The recommendation generally is to not. For many reasons.

    1. Nearby dogs/cats pose a threat to the rabbit and they might get extremely scared, scared enough to start a bout of stasis. Or scared enough to get hurt, which brings me to point 2.

    2. The harsh/leash can hurt them or worse 💀them. They can get excited or scared and pull on the leash and end up breaking their back, legs or neck and end up paralyzed or 💀.

    3. The rhdv virus is a huge risk, along with other things outside. Not worth the risk.

Lesson here is, yes, outdoor time can be great, the sun, exercise, etc. BUT and a bit but. It shouldn’t be on a leash / harness. It should be in an x pen that is set up outside in your backyard and monitored that way. Which still carries risks, but at least it’s more controlled.

  30. Medical-Funny-301

No, I wouldn’t risk it. A lot of bunnies don’t like harnesses- imagine being a prey animal where your only defense against something scary is to run, except you have a leash on you so you can’t run. Also, I wouldn’t take the chance of a loose dog attacking my bunnies, or a hawk/cat/fox. They are so fast, you want to believe that you would be able to save them but it’s over in the blink of an eye. Too dangerous.

  31. JoeBootie

Yah. As a dog owner who has a dog with hunting reactions, bunny’s and rabbits make his prey drive immediately kick in. Ironically, our dogs name is Bunny.

  32. stacys_m0mm

No but I just got a stroller for my bunny so we can go on walks together

  33. thelindamanor

I found my bun bun under a commercial storage bin.. he either escaped or was abandoned.. and he has had his feel of the outdoors. But he gets the most fulfilling love, care and fun time indoors..

I applaud you for making your bunny sociable and adventurous!! 💕💕💕

  34. ruetheday02

Aren’t harnesses pretty dangerous for bunnies?

  35. kumba-sillah

I can’t imagine the looks on people face when they see you with your bunny in the park and I know everyone will love to say hello to Mr fluffy . This is so beautiful 😍
