My last update for Wig and Charlie was just starting to let them meet in a neutral space. Since the sessions never had signs of aggression and they seemed natural together, I let them try exploring the space they will be sharing after 2-3 30 minute to a hour neutral space sessions. I started off with a couple 10-20 minute session exploring their shared space to see if they needed more neutral space time, they increased it to a few hours and there were no issues. Yesterday I was home all day and did a full 24 hours of supervising them and were snuggled up the entire time, and I’ve been home all day today too with no issues. I was worried about Charlie eating Wigs food since she’s a slow eater, but he’s been quite the gentleman and they have been able to eat equally.
I feel like if the hurricane didn’t happen and I wasn’t housesitting for someone for an entire week I would of been able to bond them quicker since it was positive signs from the start, but I’m sure it was good for them to have the week and a half of prebonding they had.
I was so scared of getting Charlie and having a long and stressful bonding experience since I feel like I’ve seen those a lot in here, so I am glad they were a perfect match and it makes me happy seeing Wig happier now she has her lil man. Getting Charlie also has brought her out of her shell with me and makes her want to come up to me more actually!
